Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: How long does the clean take?
A: The time the clean can take varies depending on the size of the oven, the level of carbon build-up and how easy the carbon comes off. For example, a single oven can take roughly between 1-3 hours to complete. A double oven can take roughly between 1.5-3.5 hours to complete. A range oven, depending on the size could take up to 5 hours. We can give a better time after seeing the oven.
Q2: Do you dismantle my oven for cleaning?
A: Yes we do. This is what we mean by a deep clean. We fully dismantle your oven where possible without taking apart the oven itself or main components such as heating elements.
We remove:
– most oven doors (if we cannot remove your one, we will make you aware of this) range oven doors are removed at an additional cost. We do not remove and split side opening doors on a double oven.
– The back plate.
– The fan.
– The racks and supporting shelves (if applicable)
– If possible we also drop the element down to access the roof for cleaning. If we cannot, we do our best around the element. However, elements cannot get wet otherwise they can become faulty. Therefore, we are careful and cannot guarantee all stains are removed.
Q3: I have pets, is the clean safe for them?
A: Yes! Our clean is completely safe for pets, children, and any vulnerable people. We use only eco-friendly and soap based products in your home. This means you do not have to worry about any chemicals or fumes contaminating your home.
Q4: What do you use to clean my oven?
A: Our cleaning services are committed to maintaining an eco-friendly approach within your home. We exclusively utilize environmentally conscious products, such as The Pink Stuff and glass cleaner, along with soap-based solutions, including a blend of washing-up liquid and water. No harsh chemicals are applied in any area of your property. Our skilled technicians rely on their expertise and physical effort to effectively clean your oven. Additionally, we ensure that no Sodium Hydroxide/Caustic based chemicals are used during our cleaning process. This includes avoiding products like Vanquish, Oven Pride, Oven Brite, and Mr Muscle, which range from odourless to those with stronger scents.
Q5: How much do you charge?
A: our prices vary depending on the size of your oven and the level of carbon build-up in your oven. For more information on what our prices start at, visit our services page or email us at info@majesticovencleaning.uk and we will be happy to assist. However, we give full and fixed prices that won’t change on the day.
There are additional charges that may be applicable. We sell paper/carbon filters for some types of extractor fans. Prices will be discussed the moment we establish whether you would need/like one or not. At the moment of 28th September 2023, the price for a paper filter is £5.
We clean the original enamel drip tray that comes with your oven. Additional enamel trays are charged at £6.50 each. We only clean enamel drip trays.
Q6: what do you mean by ‘full and fixed price’?
A: This means the price we give you is the final price. This is not a quote and the price does not change. As long as the pictures or video are true. Prices may be revised if the pictures were not a true and up to date. For example, if we say your oven is £60, on the day it will not change to £61 etc, it will stay at £60. Unless of course you add an extra service on the day. We may be able to facilitate depending on timing as we do have other ovens to clean.
Q7: Why do you need to see pictures of my oven?
A: This is so we can give you the correct price. We also check the appliance for any imperfections to make you aware of. Such as, warped element, worn out or damaged seal.
We also check and test the appliance on the day, before and after the clean.
Q8: Do you have insurance?
A: Yes! We are fully insured to carry work out in your home and on your appliances. We have public liability insurance that will cover any accidents whilst working. However, please do be careful around our engineers as we do carry and use sharp blades and tools.
Q9: My oven is smoking and the top is black! Do you clean the roof of my oven?
A: Yes we do. As long as your element drops down enough for us to access the roof, we can make sure it is spotless.
We will also burn off anything on the element that causes the smoke. During this, there will be smoke. We will open the windows and shut the door if necessary. We will always make you aware we are doing this and the reason why. You will not have any smoke when you use it after the clean. Please be aware, the smoking may happen in future due to the carbon build-up on the elements and the roof.
Q10: How can I prevent my oven smoking myself?
A: turn each element on regularly to ensure any carbon build-up has burnt off.
Q11: Do you remove the door on my Neff hide and slide oven and clean inside the door?
A: Yes we do. We remove and dismantle the door to clean each individual glass making sure it is spotless inside and out.
Q12: Do you do repairs?
A: We do small repairs, such as:
– Seal replacements, if found online.
– Some element replacement (dependant on the oven and if it is definitely the element that is faulty)
– Some latch replacement.
We will need to discuss repairs before making the decision of wether we are capable and insured to do so. We cannot do any work with gas.
Q13: Can I leave you alone whilst you do the clean?
A: Unfortunately, our insurance does not cover us to work alone in your home. Someone (18+ and allowed on their own) must be in the property.
Q14: Do you supply light bulbs for ovens?
A: Yes we do, at no extra cost. However, if we do not have the stock, we will point you to the bulb and show you how to change it yourself. If your not confident, we may offer to do it with a small call out fee. Unfortunately, we do not carry lights bulbs for extractor fans.
Q15: Do you warm up the oven to clean it?
A: No. We clean from cold, this is energy efficient and safe for our engineers and your appliance.
Q16: How do you clean the racks etc?
A: We have a professional van mounted dip tank. This will be heated to about 70-90 º C which activates the chemical, eating away at the grime and helps loosen heavy build-up. Racks and others things such as the back plate will them be soaked in the tank. After a while, our engineer then wipes the heavy deposits off the racks and rinses them extensively. The tank is the only thing that has a chemical in it. We do all the work outside and in the van. We put a ‘keep out’ sign if we are on a public road as a safety precaution. Before being brought back in to your property, the racks are thoroughly rinsed with soapy water. They then wipe it again with soapy water before placing it back in your oven. No chemicals are used in your home at all.
Q17: Do you clean BBQ’s?
A: Unfortunately we do not offer barbecue cleans.
Q18: Do you clean microwave ovens?
A: We clean most microwave ovens, as long as their internal is made with enamel or a strong metal. We do not remove the door. Only a microwave engineer is qualified to remove a microwave oven door. This is due to the door needing a leak test after.
We do not clean conventional microwaves.
Q19: What do you need to use in my house?
A: Just hot water.
Our engineer may need to use the toilet too!
Q20: Will you remind me or update me about any delays?
A: We will message you a day or two before your clean to remind/confirm. If there is an unexpected delay on the day of your clean, we will notify you as soon as possible, we will contact you via our first communication and then use a second. For example, if you booked in via email, we will email you and then send a text message.
This is why we ask for contact numbers.
On the day on the clean, we will let you know when we are on our way with an ETA. We always like to keep our customers up to date.
E.G – Hi, our oven cleaning technician is on the way and should be with in you in roughly 15-20 minutes. (Time varies and will be told to you)
Q21: Do you clean trays?
A: We only clean the enamel grill trays. This is the original tray that came with the oven.
As a complimentary aspect of our cleaning service, one tray is included. However, if the trays are heavily soiled, we may be unable to clean them, or some stains might persist. The oven cleaning technician will inform you about this on the day of the service.
